These days, more and more people are turning away from the heavy use of chemicals on their lawns and gardens. They're concerned
about the impact chemicals have on the health of their children, pets and wildlife — and their plants. We've come up with a smart
environmental solution in our organics program.  Our organic program is centered around three main components; compost tea,
compost and cultural practices.  For more information you can click on the link to each area.

The heavy use of chemicals in our society reflects our age old dilemma of treating the symptoms and not addressing the root cause
of the problem.  For instance it is easy to spray an herbicide on a weed to kill it.  This does not address the cause of weeds.
Weeds prefer compact, low nutrient soils.  We seek to understand why turf plants are not thriving in the area that weeds exist.  Then
we proceed to correct that problem, we might alleviate compaction by aerating and adding organic matter and other soil conditioners,
then overseed with a more genetically superior strain of grass seed.  Seeking a long term environmental solution in this regard is a
better alternative to the use of chemicals.

The records show that chemicals despite all the industry hype, have limited effect.  Diseases mutate, developing new strains that are
winning the war.   Moreover, as we've come to rely on chemicals, we've moved away from the very techniques that would reduce the
need for them. We've adopted practices that weaken the land and its plants.  We opt for a back to nature approach.  Our organic-
based techniques rely on a different set of values altogether. We seek to work in alliance with nature’s powers, and respect her
abilities.  We try to get to the root cause of a problem and then develop a long term strategy to correct the problem.  We have been
in business since 1941 all the while studying the science of nature.  Our response toward improving the environment is an effective
and acceptable alternative to the reliance on chemicals in the management of landscapes.

The important thing for you to know is, when you turn to an organic-based approach to managing a quality landscape, you’re not only
reducing environmental contaminants.  You will also be boosting the strength and vitality of your lawn and gardens.  You will be
contributing to a healthier, more disease-resistant plant, trees and grasses which benefit the environment.  All done naturally and in
harmony with nature, a safer environmental approach.

Our organics programs are:
•        earth-friendly.
•        safer for our children and pets.
•        greatly reduce the amount of dangerous pesticides and toxic chemicals that enter the environment.
•        promote stronger, healthier gardens and lawns that  are in harmony with nature.
•        create lawns and gardens that are more attractive to birds and beneficial insects that control harmful insect populations.
•        foster the growth of strong plants that successfully  rely on their own natural defenses to fight disease and insects.
•        seek to increase the diversity of plants in a garden.
•        encourage less waste,  we put back carbon (food source for plants) into the environment by allowing grass clippings to be
recycled and used as nourishment for lawns & gardens.
•        use natural fertilizers that are more in tune with the needs  of gardens & lawns.  Synthetic, chemical-based fertilizers,   on
the other hand, generally are loaded up with far more nutrients than a plant can use. The high concentration of artificial
nutrients can reduce soil fertility and suppress beneficial soil organisms.
•        increasingly popular with people who want to have a positive impact on the environment.
•        cost less in the long run than the use of pesticides and synthetic fertilizers.
